Boreal Agreement

The Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement includes 21 forest companies, members of the Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC), and nine leading environmental organizations, including CPAWS.

Under the Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement, FPAC members commit to the highest environmental standards of forest management and conservation over the more than 76 million hectares of public forests included in the Agreement. For their part, the environmental organizations commit to providing international recognition and support for the efforts of FPAC members.

CPAWS Québec is actively participating in the implementation of the Agreement in Québec, cooperating with the signatory forest product companies and environmental organizations to reach our common goals. As part of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification, CPAWS Québec is collaborating with Tembec in the Abitibi region to ensure the coexistence of forest operations and a cross-border woodland caribou population with Ontario.
